Look at how stunning this family is!
It was time for the Helman family to update their family photos & I am so happy they chose me to capture these special moments. I met this family at Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia for their family portrait session. Forsyth park is a very iconic location for photographers in the low country and it is not hard to see why. This park has endless amounts of oak trees draped in spanish moss... it screams southern charm and makes for a gorgeous background for any type of photography session from couples, to families and seniors!
This park is wonderful for so many reasons but I find myself coming back because of how kid friendly it is. There is plenty of room for kids to run around and explore during the shoot. I love to capture children in their natural state and I believe candid shots make for the best photos. I want to see tickle fights, crazy chases and even the occasional sibling bantering!
There are two areas in the park where there are swings, slides, monkey bars etc etc for the kids to play on- this makes for great leverage for the parents I work with! You would not believe how many times I have heard a parent say "smile and cooperate for a little longer and then we can go play at the park" to their excited little babes!
These two kids were extremely enjoyable and made this shoot a blast. It had recently rained here in Georgia so it was extremely humid and the ground was wet on the day of their shoot. We were all hot and sticky by the time we were done but we laughed it off knowing this is a common occurence in our region. They were troopers and had a blast on the playground while I took shots of mom and dad by themselves.
Even though this was a family session, I capture the parents by themselves at every session I shoot. Moms and dads that book me often (shamefully) admit the last time they had professional pictures taken of just the two of them was at their wedding!
